How to Choose a Qualified Doctor for your Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation, Labiaplasty or Designer Laser Vaginoplasty

Cosmetic gynecological procedures are specialized procedures in a sensitive, intimate and important area of a woman’s body. With that said, of course women want to be confident in their choice of doctor to ensure that he or she is sufficiently specialized in this field for an optimal result. So, if you’re looking for Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation ® (a procedure in which vaginal muscle is tightened to increase sexual pleasure) or Designer Laser Vaginoplasty ® (a procedure aesthetically modifying vulvar structures [often includes labiaplasty] to decrease physical or emotional discomfort associated with this issue), you’re going to want to know how to choose a doctor who is truly qualified to perform these procedures and to help you achieve your desired result. Here are a few ways to know if your doctor is qualified:

1. Pictures

Picture evidence of your doctor’s work is extremely informative! After all, they do say that a picture is worth a thousand words. Two things are important here: quality and quantity! Before and after pictures serve as great measure of a doctor’s skill set in this area, as they serve as evidence for what types of changes they can make and how well they can perform this art of medicine. Beyond seeing the types of changes made and outcomes achieved, how many pictures does you doctor have? If they have some on their website, do they have more when you ask? Are the photos of your specific procedure? These are all important questions. Very simply, if your doctor is experienced in cosmetogynocology, they have operated on numerous patients and will have several pictures documenting their work. If the doctor you are seeing only has a few pictures, it’s highly likely they’re less experienced with these procedures.

2. Specialty and Training

Medical training is obviously a very important piece of information to consider in your procedure. Typically, there are three types of doctors who perform Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation (aka vaginal tightening) and Designer Laser Vaginoplasty (aka labiaplasty): cosmetic gynecologists, gynecologists, and plastic/cosmetic surgeons.

  • Cosmetic gynecologists completed their medical training in gynecology and have also completed additional specialized training for utilizing cosmetic surgery techniques in the vaginal area specifically. Surgeons in this category are most specialized in completing these procedures. Training in gynecology provides comprehensive, in-depth knowledge about the vulvar region, including (but not limited to) anatomical structures and functionality, medical conditions, nerves, and the female sexual response, all of which are integral for an optimal surgical result. Plus, cosmetic gynecologists seek specialized training in cosmetic gynecology to perform these procedures. If your doctor has trained at the Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation Institute of America, specialized training with pioneers in the field, this is a sign of great training.
  • Gynecologists completed their medical training in gynecology, but have not sought specialized training in cosmetic techniques for the vaginal area. While they also have vast knowledge about the vulvar area and vagina and may have performed the procedure, they may not have sufficient training to perform cosmetic gynecological procedures exceptionally well.
  • Plastic or cosmetic surgeons have been trained in techniques to maximize the aesthetic appearance of the body. While they have vast knowledge about cosmetic surgery, they are not “vagina specialists,” and therefore do not have the same level of expertise on the female sexual response.

3. Experience

As with any skill, practice makes perfect. How long has your doctor been performing vaginal tightenings or labiaplasties? If they’ve been doing these procedures for more than a few years, plus have pictures to back it up, they’re likely sufficiently experienced.
