Question: How will Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation benefit me?
Answer:

Transcript: First, it is important to understand what Masters and Johnson determined in their sexual study. They concluded that sexual gratification is directly related to the degree of frictional forces generated during intercourse. In Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation, we decrease the internal and external vaginal diameters and increase and strengthen the vaginal muscle tone. At the same time, if necessary, we can repair the condition of stress urinary incontinence. This physical restructuring restores the vaginal area to a natural state as it was prior to pregnancy. It is also possible to re-create the vaginal tightness associated with a younger woman. This will make intercourse more pleasurable for both you and your partner.

Question: How long will Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation surgery take?
Answer:

Transcript: When we perform Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation, we have to discuss if it’s going to be a one, two, three, or four part procedure. If it is a one-part procedure it can be less than an hour. The average Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation procedure takes approximately two hours, but if there is Urinary Stress Incontinence and other defects that we are trying to take care of, it could take up to three to four hours.

Question: How do you minimize pain during cosmetic vaginal surgery?
Answer:

Transcript: During Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation or cosmetic vaginal tightening procedures, there are several things we do to decrease the pain involved in the surgical process as well as the post-op pain control. The first thing we do is, most patients have general anesthesia but some patients can have what we call Conscious Sedation and during that, we will inject the patient with what we call a regional block or pudendal block. Also we give them local anesthesia we use a type of anesthetic that will help prolong when the patient’s pain will first be forthcoming postoperatively. So generally speaking, the patient will not have any pain during the procedure and post-operatively for at least 6-8 hours, and sometimes up to 18-24 hours immediately after the procedure so they can go home or go to the hotel, etc., so not until in they are in bed, relaxing, can they take the post-op pain medication. We’ve also updated the procedure in that we now use off-label botox injected directly into the vaginal musculature that we are tightening both internally and externally. Because botox is a paralytic agent, it relaxes the muscles in the doses we use it in, and therefore the patient that receives the botox interoperatively will not have to take post-op pain medication and muscle relaxants, usually for more than two to three days. If the patient decides against the botox injections will generally need the post-op pain medication and muscle relaxants for approximately seven to 10 days.

Question: What kind of anesthesia will you use?
Answer:

Transcript: For the Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation procedure, we generally use three types of anesthesia. General anesthesia, we also use a regional block, and local anesthesia. We can do under conscious sedation but it is safer to use general anesthesia. The purpose of the local and the block is for post-op pain control. For Designer Laser Vaginoplasty, we use general or contrasedation (Conscious Sedation) with local, generally we do not use a regional block in that type of procedure. We individualize the type of anesthesia based on the patient’s concerns, medical issues, and what is best for that patient.

Question: How long after my Vaginal Surgery will my first post-op visit be?
Answer:

Transcript: The answer to that really depends on what type of surgery you’re having. Generally speaking, if one is healthy and has a Labiaplasty procedure, we do not need to see the patient the next day or within 6-8 weeks. Most things can be handled over the phone or by email, etc., but obviously we can see you next day if we need to. Patients who are having Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation or cosmetic vaginal tightening procedures, generally speaking, those patients can be handled on the phone, by email, don’t need when they’re uncomfortable to come into the office post-operatively unless, of course, there is an issue. The vaginal packing can be removed by the patient, or whoever is taking care of them. If a patient has urinary stress incontinence and a catheter is placed into the urethra and bladder, those patients are asked to return in 5 to 7 days to remove the catheter is removed and to ensure that everything with the procedure went well and they are continuing to heal appropriately.

Question: How soon after delivering a baby can I have Labiaplasty or Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation?
Answer:

We recommend at least six weeks postpartum for you to have both anesthesia and either Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation or Designer Laser Vaginoplasty (Labiaplasty). It is important that you are fully healed after your vaginal delivery and recovered and all of the gynecological structures are back to their normal shape and size and then we can repair or reconstruct whatever you desire.

Question: How soon after cosmetic vaginal surgery can I resume having sex?
Answer:

Transcript: We generally recommend, the six to eight weeks post operative time to heal adequately. After that point and time sex should not be uncomfortable. We do recommend to patients, when resuming having sex to pretend like it’s their first time. It might take a few times having sex before it is comfortable. Generally a few weeks after resuming sex the patient is happy and so is their partner.

Question: Can Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy help me?
Answer:

Transcript: If your hormone levels are starting to decrease, I test to see which hormone(s) have dropped secondary to aging, I would then recommend getting these hormones back their optimal levels. Aside from preventative medicine reasons, increasing libido, and feeling better, the most important reason that I use these hormones is for woman that over 40 or 45 who are having these procedures, especially women in their 60’s and 70’s. We use these hormones because the patient can heal as though they are in their 20’s and 30’s, the pain is less, and overall it is better for your general health.
